Book Reviews

Stephanie's Ponytail
A Book Review by Rachael

The book title is Stephanie's Ponytail  The Author is Robert Munsch.  The illustrator is Michael Martchenko.  It is not an information book, it is a realistic book.  The characters are Stephanie and her mom, and kids and the teacher at school.  The problem was that everyone kept copying what Stephanie does with her hair.  It happened in the daytime.  The setting was at school.  The best part of the story is when Stephanie tricked everyone in her class that she was going to have shaved her head, but she had a nice ponytail coming right out the back.  I think people will like this story because it's funny, and that's why I like the story.

Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch
A Book Review by Lea

The book is Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch.  Story by Eileen Spinelli, pictures by Paul Yalowitz.  Realistic fiction.  The best part was when he learned that he was loved.  I would recommend this book because it lets people learn that people can be boring, but after you know them, they will be nicer.

High Tide in Hawaii
A Book Review by Alison

A Magic Tree House book, High Tide in Hawaii.  The author and illustrator is Mary Pope Osborne.  It's a fantasy book because tree houses can't take people to where someplace is in a book. It's about when two kids named Jack and Annie go on an adventure to Hawaii to find a special magic and build a ship.  The best part was when Jack was drowning.  I think people should read this because it is very interesting.

  Arthur's Family Vacation
A Book Review by Casie

The title is Arthur's Family Vacation.  The author and illustrator is Marc Brown.  It's fantasy because they're talking anteaters.  The problem is Arthur doesn't want to go on vacation.  The best part was when Arthur buried D.W. in the sand.  I want people to read this story because it is funny.

Cats vs. Dogs
A Book Review by Alex

The title of the story is Cats vs. Dogs.  Author by Elizabeth Carney. The illustrator is Elizabeth Carney.  This book is an information book because it tells about cats and dogs.  The setting is outside and inside.  The best part was when they told about our hearing and dog's hearing and cat's hearing.  Human hearing is 20,000 hertz, dog's hearing is 40,000 hertz, and
cat's hearing is 60,000 hertz.  And that's why I
like this book.

Why do Dogs Bark?
A Book Review by Dan

Why Do Dogs Bark? by Joan Holub.  Informational.  Why do dogs bark?  Because they mark their spot.  They should read this book because it's all about dogs and if they do, they should get a dog because there might be one just like in the book!

Henry and Mudge and the Tumbling Trip

A Book Review by Shaun

Henry and Mudge and the Tumbling Trip.  The author is Cynthia Rylant.  The type of book is a realistic story.  Henry and Mudge got cowboy stuff.  They chased weeds.  The best part was when Mudge ran into a cactus.   I would recommend this because the story is funny.

Mammals
A Book Review by Kaitlyn

My book title is Mammals.  Author and Illustrator is Christine A. Caputo.  My book is informational.  It is all about mammals, like a dolphin.  The best part was learning about boxing kangaroo!  I would like others to read this book because it is a good book to read.

Sun and Moon
A Book Review by Madison

The title of my favorite book is Sun and Moon.  The author and illustrator's name is Marcus Pfister.  It is a fantasy story because the sun and moon cannot talk.  The main characters of the story is the sun and the moon.  The problem of the story is the sun and moon didn't have any friends.  My favorite part was when they met.  That's why I love this story.

I love Henry and Mudge books. You did a great job getting me interested in rereading them. I have a dog too named Lily and she goes on all kinds of adventures. One day right after I gave her a bath she came in all muddy! I guess she doesn't like to be clean.
