Staying Home

     I like to stay home.  I like to ride my dirt bike and four wheeler.  I also like to snuggle with my dog.  I like to camp in my woods and I also like to ride my bike.  That’s why I’d like to stay home. Would you like to stay home on vacation?

     I’d rather go camping than go to the beach or stay home.  It is fun.  You can jump in the water, have s’mores and hot dogs.  You can explore nature.  Animals are part of nature.  You can snuggle in your sleeping bag.  If you see any bears, stay inside the camper.  Do you like camping?

The Beach

     If I were going to go somewhere I would go to the beach.  If you go to the beach you can splash in the water, and you can also swim in the water.  With all the wet sand from the water you can build sandcastles.  You can make it as tall or as small as you want.  You can also collect sea shells.  Some can be smooth and some can be rough. Plus some can be squiggly and you might find one with an animal still in it.  Isn’t the beach a wonderful place?

My Vacation

     I like to spend my vacation at home.  I like to play a game that’s on my ipad.  I also like to ride my bike in my driveway.  I also like to play with my all my fun toys at my house!  Those are my favorite things I like to do on my vacation at my house.

I have 2 pet dogs at home that I can play with.  Video games are fun too.  You can swim in your pool if you have one.  If you don’t, ask your parent or parents if you can go to a relative’s pool.  I think staying home for vacation is fun, do you?

     My favorite vacation is being home. When you’re home, you can do fun stuff like playing hockey outside. You can play football outside, but you can go fishing if you have a lake or a pond.  If you have a lot of toys you can play with them inside or outside. That’s why I love being home.

     Camping is fun and here's why I say that.  If you go camping and you leave in the afternoon, you can set up your tent and build your campfire.  When it starts to get dark you can eat what you have brought and eat it, but do not put your food on the ground.  When you are done with your dinner, you can go find some sticks and put marshmallows on them, and make s'mores with chocolate and graham crackers.  When you are done with the s'mores you can go in the tent and read, but if you do not want to read, you can just go to sleep.  That's why I like to go camping.

     When you're camping, all that you see is mother nature.  When you go camping, you would need a lot of stuff to hold, and all the bags would be heavy.  You could go camping in different ways, like going on a trailer or you can bring a tent,  If you bring a tent, you would have to see if there are no rocks under your tent, or when it's night time it will be all bumpy.  That's why I like camping.

A Week at the Seashore!

The Sea

     The sea is like coming to a perfect place.  And you can feel the soft sand between your toes.  It's so smooth.  When you feel the seaweed it would tickle a lot and be so soft.  You could see sand dollars that look cool.  You might see a crab walking by you, that would be so cool to see a crab!  You might see some jellyfish, but just don't touch it, so you don't get stung by one.

     There are lots of creatures living in the ocean.  It's fun to swim in the water and make sandcastles in the sand.  I love the beach, do you? You can collect sand dollars and clams.  You can watch crabs crawl through the sand under water.  Do you like to walk on the beach?  I think it looks like an underwater kingdom when I swim underwater.  You should learn how to swim underwater, because it is fun.  In the winter when you walk on the beach it is as cold as a cave.

     The beach is all about having fun. You can play bocce ball, and go in the water. You can play football in the water or in the sand. It's fun to find crabs in the rocks. Some people are trying to get a tan. I like going in the water to cool off when I'm hot. I also like walking down the beach and finding shells.      You can find lots of critters at the beach.  You might see crabs, starfish, minnows, and sometimes sharks, clams, or sea horses. When I go snorkling, sometimes I see puffer fish and Moray eels, but most of the time I see coral reefs and baby fish and puffer fish, flounder and groper. Some shells can be poisonous.  I love the beach.

     Do you want to learn about the beach?  At the seashore you can read a book, lie down on your towel and do many other things.  You can also go in the water and swim.  Lifeguards are always on the look out to make sure everybody stays safe on the shore or in the water.  There are a lot of seashells on the seashore.  You can walk on the seashore and collect sea shells.  You can create sandcastles with the wet sand.  If you go in the water, make sure you do not go too deep because you could drown and the lifeguards would have to save you.  Wouldn't you just love to visit the beach?

     There are a lot of great things on the seashore.  At the beach there are a lot of people excitingly carrying sand toys, towels, floaties, and beach chairs with big umbrellas, too!  You put on sunscreen, then you go in the water.  Next, if you want to get good seashells go near the shallow water which is near the wet sand and the water washes up pretty shells!  If you want to go to a tide pool, it is a big rocky place with shrimp, snails, crayfish, and other interesting animals.  Here's something you shouldn't do:  feed the gulls.  They might do their business on you!  You do not want that to happen.  The seashore is as fun as the circus!

     The seashore is a great place to be, and this is why.  The water feels great.  Don't forget to put on sunscreen.  Never feed the seagulls.  Never dive or fish near other people or in the shore.  You won't get much, all you will get is people.  Try to have as much peace as you can.  Hear the waves?  Don't you think the seashore is great?

     The seashore is awesome. The tide pools have hundreds of animals like sea stars, barnacles, snails, crabs, shrimp, clams, mussels, and other animals.  You can build sandcastles, too.  A sandcastle is a small castle made out of sand.  Isn't the beach fun?

      The beach is like jumping in a cool cube of ice. People like to lay on towels, and a raft.  Some people jump right in the water when they are hot.  Some people drink lemonade.  Some walk on the beach.  In summer anything can happen, like camping, fishing and eating ice cream.  So anything can happen in that season of the year.

Our Writing Folders

     Second grade writing folders are one of the best.  The folders help you because they hold your writing.  Our writing has lots of words and pictures.  We reread the sentences after we write.  You know some of information of our writing folders.  The writing folders are cool like a cucumber.

Wonderful Enrichment Day

     On Enrichment day this year we learned about the ocean. Each person had three stations for the day. Some of the stations were about octopuses, singing, lobsters, and other things but the real theme was the ocean, that we mentioned in the first sentence.  We went to see a blow up whale that is a real whale in the ocean.  After the stations we took a break and did some work and played games.  This Enrichment Day was like a big party about the ocean!

   

Our Class Ipad

     The ipad is brilliant and has a lot of learning games. Some of them are Brain Pop, K12 Timed Reading, Mathtopia, and other learning games.  We go on K12 Timed Reading every morning.  Every week we have a different story on K12 Timed Reading.  Mathtopia happily helps the class with addition and subtraction.  Do you think the ipad is as fun as a computer?

Independent Reading

     Independent Reading is the best part in school.  We pick a spot quietly, then sit down and read our books.  Next we think about how much we like the book. Then when we finish the book we get another book to read.  Next, if there's a cool part and there's no pictures, just imagine the picture in your mind. But if there is a picture, look at that.  That's a lot of stuff we do at Independent Reading time!

The Super Improvers Wall

     The Super Improvers wall is all about making improvement.  It's all about getting more and more stickers.  So try to go from beginner to champion.  And once you're a champion you will be filled with pride.  Once you earn a card, you keep it for a book mark.  You have to earn 5 stickers so that you can get a different color of card. The Super Improvers wall is as good as pie!

Class Jobs

     We have a lot of class jobs.  I can tell you all of them, and who has what.  Kaitlyn is Line Leader.  Cora sharpens pencils.  Madison is the Teacher Assistant:  she takes down the morning letter and stacks the baskets.  I am paper person.  Keaghan is Center Manager.  He straightens all the literacy and math games.  Daniel is Equipment Manager.  He dusts the computers.  Casie is Beanie Tidy.  She collects the beanies at the end of the day.  Luke is Calendar Helper.  Lea is Messenger: she delivers messages.  Rachael is the Library Leader.  She straightens the books.  Alex is Clean Team.  He wipes things that are dirty with a little damp paper towel.  There is no Substitute because there use to be 13 kids in our class but now there are only 12 kids.  Shaun is the Caboose.  He goes to the end of the line and there is one that says no job, but there are not enough kids so nobody will end up getting that job.  That's all our class jobs and everyone does their job every day.
